Zen & Tao Poetic 8 - Square Pond

朱熹: 观书有感(1)

半亩方塘一鉴开,
天光云影共徘徊。
问渠哪得清如许?
为有源头活水来。

My translation of ZhuXi: Inspired by literature (one)

Little square pond like a mirror opened wide,
Sky lights and shadow clouds loitering around.
Why thou so clear and clean?
Fresh running water never subside.

Paul's comment: This is one of the most famous little poems beloved by Chinese intellectuals who love classical things. No additional explanation is needed for those who love to muse about with literature like poet ZhuXi (朱熹).
